Dr. Saniya Shoaib, O.D.
After years of working in the eyecare industry, Greenpointer Dr. Saniya Shoaib, OD, or “Sunny” to her friends, founded a practice that blends cutting edge eye care with the worlds finest luxury eyewear: Sunny Eye Shop.
When she founded Sunny Eye Shop, Dr. Shoaib's dream was to create a practice that didn't merely dole out exams and prescriptions, but instead delivered a more personalized and catered eyecare experience than had previously been available in the Greenpoint area. In order to do this, Dr. Shoaib takes the time to truly get to know her patients, their needs, and their style so that she and her staff can guide patients to finding the perfect pair of glasses.
Dr. Shoaib is a licensed primary care optometrist who earned her Doctor of Optometry from The New England College of Optometry located in the heart of Boston, MA. She previously worked at East Hampton Optical and Cosmopolitan Eyecare inside Lenscrafters. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA), and is well versed in leading medical advances and new technologies.
Zuleika Barrios, Optician
Zuleika, a Brooklyn native and licensed optician with 15+ years of experience, is the glue that holds Sunny Eye Shop together. Besides performing all lab work, Zuleika checks patients in with the pre-examinations and provides advice in helping patients pick the perfect pair of eyewear. She’s the voice of encouragement to help you explore new styles and push boundaries, helping each patient see the world and themselves clearer.
